Bezos meant that nations, companies, and individuals have to fight to remain distinct, original and unique. Rewinding the clock to your younger days could be one way to do that.

Bezos has a pretty extensive history of long-term research and he has previously invested in Unity Biotechnology, a contra-aging company. For months, rumors of a billionaire splashing into the field have been whirling.

However, rumors are becoming news when Bezos with Russian mogul Milner is reported to invest in Altos Labs, a biotech business with the objective of carrying out laboratory “facelift” of cells to prolong the lives of human beings.
The “elixir of youth” is the result of two rich businessmen joining forces.

The rumors came out when at the automn of 2020, a huge group of scientists came to the palatial house of Yuri Milner in Los Altos above Palo Alto. Testing for Covid-19, they wore masks when gathered for a two-day scientific conference at a theater on the grounds. Others were joined by a call. Milner has built a fortune on Facebook and Mail.ru and has earlier began the sparkling black-tie black-through awards for exceptional physicists, biologists and mathematics for three million dollar each year. Awards of $3 million! But Milner has been moved in a fascinating and precise new path by science enthusiasm.

The result of this gathering was that Amazon’s most affluent man and creator, Jeff Bezos, and Yuri Milner, the Russian billionaire tycoon, are reviving a biotechnology company, “Altos Labs,” to turn the biological clock back. How? By rescheduling cells to find anti-aging methods.

I understand that humans are seeking to extend their human life since ever. It is well known in the history of humanity that such efforts started thousand years ago. Maybe the most famous example is that of the Alchemists, where under the excuse of change cheep metals into gold, they experimented to find the elixir of life.

Bezos and Milner are driving this effort to an upper level.

Who are the partners of Bezos and Milner?

The Spanish biologist Dr Juan Carlos Belbode is on the side of Bezos and Milner who pioneered Dr Sinia Yamanaka’s approach in a variety of tests as the Japanese Nobel laureate. Yamanaka won the Nobel Prize for Medicine in 2012 to establish a method for transforming differentiated adult cells into pluripotent stem cells for his research on Pluripotent Stem cells (iPS cells as he dubbed them).

His research discovered that by adding four special proteins to cells, the qualities of embryonic stem cells, which are the building blocks for new life, can return them to their original status.

In 2016, Spanish Professor Belbode developed the concept that rodents showing signs of aging would apply the Japanese doctor’s embryonic stem cell method.

Following the trial, according to the MIT Technology Review, he described the reprogramming procedure as a “life elixir.”

The Altos Labs Company

In its piggy bank – that of $ 270 million – the biotechnology company Altos Labs based in the United States and Great Britain already makes good use of technology.

The company’s objective is to rejuvenate and conquer immortality of experimental animal cells.

Milner and Bezos will make use of biotechnology to do “face lifts” laboratories to extend human life through Altos Labs.

Such a “biological clock” is necessary in anti-aging research.

Anyway, Bezos’ obsession with anti-aging research is well known. F. e., he incorporated a phrase from a ruminations about mortality and decline found in a book by scientist Richard Dawkins in his last letter addressed to Amazon shareholders: “To stay away from death is something you must strive on… If living organisms do not attempt to prevent this from happening, they will eventually blend with their environment and stop being autonomous. It’s what’s going on when they die.”

Other efforts to remain original and unique

It would be unfair if we did not made a reference to Google’s long, Strange Life-Span Trip. Having at their disposal an anount higher than 1,5 billion $US, they believe that their anti-aging spinout named Calico will have enough funding to find out why does a mole rat live 30 years but the a mouse only three.

Some scientists believe that there is too much funding, too much research into a too short period of time out there. What are they afraid of? In vitro, you can take a cell from an 80- year old human and reverse the age by 40 years. So, maybe they are afraid of the consequences. They are afraid of what will life be like in a couple of years.

May be they fear the social and economical impact that such inventions could create to the humanity.
But since when such fears prevented the development of science?
