Ferrari F8 tributo – a legendary model

The Ferrari F8 Tributo has been revealed at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show as a replacement to the 488 GTB.

The Ferrari F8 Tributo is a mid-engine sports car produced by the Italian automobile manufacturer.

The car is an update to the 488, which itself was a heavily revised Ferrari 458, with notable exterior and performance changes.

Heavily updated

This is the first time a mid-engine Ferrari supercar has been heavily updated twice. Their previous supercars only having been revamped once during their model cycle. The 206 into the 246, 308 into the 328, 348 into the F355 and the 360 becoming the F430.

Why did Ferrari produce a car to replace a model that was also a replacement to the 10-year old one? Especially since Ferrari has been caught testing a 4 88 hybrid model before the Geneva event. It was expected that the replacement to the 4 88 in the marque’s lineup would be electrified and the basis of future hybrid Ferraris.

According to Ferrari’s chief technical officer Michael Leiters:

they chose to go with F8’s path instead of hybridization to be more focused on daily usability.

As  Ferrari CEO Louis Calmieri confirmed, the upcoming hybrid model will be a totally new car that will be focused on track performance. We shall expect that the hybrid model will arrive in two to three months.

Engine and Performance of Ferrari F8 Tributo:

The F8 Tributo uses the same engine from the 4 88 Pista, a 3.9L twin-turbocharged V8 engine. It gives impressive performance, compared to its predecessor. 720 horsepower and 568 pound-feet (770 Newton-meters) of torque generated by the twin-turbo 3.9-liter V8. That allows a 0-62 mph (0-100 kph) sprint for as little as 2.9 seconds (down by 0.1s compared to the GTB). It’s 0 to 124 mph (200 kph) only 7.8 seconds with a top speed of 211 mph (340 kph). Not only the engine but also the 88 pound or 39,9 kilos weight savings. Compared to the previews model, improve performance and handling.

Transmission:

The F8 Tributo uses a 7-speed dual clutch automatic transmission with improved gear ratios.

Handling:

Several new software features are installed on the F8; they are controlled via the manettino drive-mode switch on the steering wheel. The car is equipped with Ferrari’s latest Side Slip Angle Control traction- and stability-control program. Additionally, the Ferrari Dynamic Enhancer, an electronic program for managing drifts, can now be used in the Race drive mode.

Design of Ferrari f8 tributo:

Another characteristic, compared to the 4 88, is that the F8 Tributo is a lot better than the 4 88 GTB when it comes to aerodynamic efficiency. 15 percent better, to be exact. So, even if this new car isn’t exactly new, it is a significant improvement from its predecessor.

The lower fascia has been redesigned, taking several cues from the Pista, namely the S-Duct. There is a re-sculptured hood and the headlights have been redesigned to be more compact. The latter feature allows for additional air intakes above the headlights.

The car also features quad taillamps, a feature that was last seen on the F4 30. At the rear, it sports a louvered clear engine cover which pays homage to the F40 and a wrap-around rear spoiler from the 3 08 GTB.

Interior of Ferrari F8 Tributo

The interior has minor updates as well: the dash and instrument housing is new. The two-tone color scheme from the 488 is also gone. An 8.5-inch passenger touchscreen display is also standard as a part of the HMI (Human Machine Interface).

To sumerise, enjoy our youtube video. The film shows a fictional situation with professional drivers on closed roads. Do not try anything of this by yourself. Especially if you do not drive a Ferrari. Anyway, we urge you to obey all posted traffic signs and laws, as also common sense.
